photo-1Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece Readers....It’s the 2nd Annual HARBORFROST weekend in Sag Harbor, whose ready to get your freeze on for the Polar Bear Plunge? I meet people all the time that say to me you live in the Hamptons full-time and I say of course people live here year-round. What’s not to believe, I remember when I use to only come out on the weekends year-round and dread going back to NYC to live my everyday life. The Hamptons are very quiet in the off-season, but it is charming and peaceful.  As a younger person I would not have been able to appreciate Sag Harbor as a year-round resident, but I can now and it is one of the most beautiful places in the world to live. I get to drive past the ocean everyday and my personal best is driving over the bridge in Sag Harbor, it has the most beautiful sunrise that just takes my breathe away. So you out there that thinks we shrivel away and hibernate in the winter, the Hamptons does not close up after Labor Day..we work, we party, we go out to eat at Restaurants that stay open year-round, we shop, Eli Tahari is open year-round, our kids go to school, BTW we are home to some of the best public schools in NYS. Sag Harbor is one of the most charming towns of which can be enjoyed all year long, take a break if you live in NYC and visit for the day or weekend.

The Friends of Yard will be hosting a Winter Celebration Party at Page 63 on Main Street. There will be a silent auction, dinner by the bite donated by local restaurants and a DJ playing music. The cost is $25.00 in advance & $30 at the door.

YARD is a vital component of our community because it provides positive activities for Sag Harbor’s youth. However, YARD is mostly funded by municipalities which have cut back their funding due to these tough economic times. Now, more than ever, we rely on the generosity of the community to help keep these critical programs intact. According to Debbie Skinner – director of the YARD program, “There’s no better way to kick-off Harborfrost weekend then to attend our gala and support the children of Sag Harbor.”
YARD is a non-profit organization that provides programs and activities designed to keep our community’s kids active, occupied, and engaged. These programs include YARD’s after school program and the wildly popular summer evening program.
