Saying goodbye to summer, hello Fall

Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece readers….Today is Labor Day….a celebration of the economic and social contributions of workers. It also symbolizes the end of summer for teachers, students and Parents and the Hamptons….we once again begin our journey to another 10 month school year….making lunch, doing homework, carpooling to activities, sports, eating dinner at a reasonable time, parent/teacher conferences, school plays and so much more. Many summer people check out of the Hamptons and go back to their full time residences….Many Hamptons publications check out as well and no longer write about what’s happening in the Hamptons, its like the Hamptons is forgotten and they focus mostly on what is happening in NYC.

Hamptons Mouthpiece will continue to bring you the happenings in the Hamptons because friends the acitivities have only just begun. I absolutely love the Hamptons in the Fall…the beaches are beautiful, the water is still warm. The Fall is the ABSOLUTE best time to visit the Hamptons. In my humble opinion it is because if you go to a restaurant, the food is not rushed, the staff is more pleasant and the meals is somewhat less expensive… could it be because we the people that live here fultime are their Bread & butter! It is wine time for both Forks…mostly the Northfork..check out the their websites…It is easy to  find a place to stay and it will not cost you $300 per night with a 2 night minimum. This is the time when many local families move back into their homes after renting out their for the summer, it is good to see old friends.. The traffic is not insane so it will not take you 2 hours to get from Southampton-East Hampton on 27East. September is the time to visit if you are looking to purchase in the Hamptons…so come out and tour these beautiful homes, there are many amazing brokers ready to show you around…
Listed below are a few events taking place for the Fall…But my absolute favorite time in the Hamptons is Halloween…if you have children this is a great time to visit any of the towns because they all do an amazing job of decorating for Halloween…

IT’S HARBOR FESTIVAL IN SAG HARBOR THIS WEEKEND

I love this event, it is fun and the entire town tends to come out…Many retail stores participate in sidewalk sales, there are tons of fun activities for the entire family…. It is an all day event. Friday, September 9th…Lobster Bake Fundraiser with Live Music…Sag Harbor Whaling Museum 630-930pm. Harborfest Fundraiser , 16th Annual Lobster Bake Dinner. Live Music featuring Inda Eaton, and Dick Johansson and the Highlanders. Dinner includes- Lobster, clams, mussels, chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob, beer, wine, soda, dessert and coffee, & Live Music—-all for just $85.00 per person. Reservations are Required. Saturday, September 10-11…Harbor Festival….Sag Harbor..

Harborfest parade Here comes Harborfest! It’s a weekend of fun, starting with the A festival parade will kick things off Saturday, September 10th at 9:30 AM! Both Saturday and Sunday, September 10th & 11th, wander the village and Long Wharf from 9AM – 6PM. There will be sidewalk sales, arts and crafts for sale, food vendors, and the famous Whaleboat Races! Sunday afternoon from….The Sag Harbor Food Pantry will be hosting the ever-popular Chowder Contest and Clam Shucking Contest again this year on Sunday, September 11. They will also be selling wine and beer, and great raffles on Saturday and Sunday.

	Long Island Restaurant Week
	Long Island Restaurant Week will launch Sunday, November 6 through Sunday, November 13, 2011. Due to the overwhelming success of November’s Long Island Restaurant Week and the fact that there is more than one slow time of year for restaurant business, the promotion will be held twice a year – once in the fall and once in the spring. The eight-day promotion features special prix fixe dinners at all participating restaurants. The idea is simple: for eight days, Sunday to Sunday, participating restaurants offer will offer their own unique three-course prix fixe menu all night, except Saturday when it will be offered only until 7 p.m.
