Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers...Last weekend I hosted a “Celebration of Women, Toast to the New Year” Breakfast. I was unsure how many women were going to attend because I had received so many cancellations but to my surprise there were nearly 25 women at the this breakfast. I was so excited because it was a blessing to be in a room filled with women from all walks of life, strong women, mothers, business women. Everyone invited was asked to bring a gift under $25, something to share at the breakfast (champagne or a dish) and 1 item for the food pantry. We had so much food, much of which came from the new Sag Harbor Bakery, if you have never been to this bakery you must stop by and say hello to the owners Margaret and Mimi. They made sure that no one brought doubles to the breakfast and therefore we had an assortment of baked goods.
Dutch Petals donated the floral arrangement that looked so perfect that many did not realize that these were real flowers.
After everyone mingled, talked with old friends, met new friends, my good friends re-decorated my living room it was time to gather everyone in a circle and begin. I started by introducing myself and thanking everyone for attending, then asked the women to introduce themselves and tell the group how they spend their time. Many of the Women would say I am just a mom and I would intervene and say you are more than a Mom and point out all of their wonderful attributes. It then became contagious and each time another woman would introduce herself and be so modest about what she does there was another woman there to share with the group the amazing accomplishments of that woman. It was one of the best days of my life being in a room filled with so much positive energy. I was in awe of these women and the things they were doing and I felt so excited to have put this together my vision of the day had been accomplishment and well received. What really made the day so special was that I was able to take over 2 huge boxes of food to the Sag Harbor food Pantry and they were just so appreciative. I was in awe of the people that donate their time to helping others and I suddenly realized God’s purpose for me. My purpose is to help others, I am a giver and I love to give and to help, but I will not be taken advantage of. Over the last few months many people have abused my kindness and therefore I have been forced to make some changes with regard to those people, but I will still stay on God’s journey for me and that is to help others.
I wanted to put together a list of the women who attended and point out what they did, but I realized that I do not have a completed list and therefore I will need to host another “Celebration of Women” and this time I will be more prepared to make that list public. My sole objective is to do what men over decades have been doing and that is networking among themselves. Women tend to not do these things and often times our businesses do not grow at the same speed a man’s business grows.
The next “Celebration of Women” will be in July in the Hamptons and this is one not to be missed. It will be a brunch because I just do not enjoy breakfast as much as I do lunch…so it will be a brunch. I am hoping to have as many as 50 women uniting together, making new friends and promoting their business to the group for our support. I am looking for ideas to make the next event even better than the 1st one. If you are interested in being added to the guest list be sure to pop me an email at [email protected].
Hamptons Mouthpiece is going to be doing some new and exciting things this year are you on-board for the ride?
