The LIRR released this information on their website that there would be some changes on the Montauk branch and buses will replace trains from Speonk to Montauk for 72 Hours from Tuesday, March 12 thru Friday, March 15, 2013, for Bridge Rehab Work . The Latest Phase of $22.4M Project of rehabilitation of the three east end Bridges which includes AM & PM Peak Outages.
With train service suspended along this segment of the Montauk Branch, the LIRR will take advantage of the track time to reconstruct the railroad crossing on Montauk Highway near Flying Point Road to accommodate future plans of the Town of Southampton to widen Montauk Highway. As a result, Montauk Highway will be closed to vehicular traffic at that juncture on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13.
