Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece Readers…The Peconic Bay Keeper is our most valuable resource regarding the quality of the water in our bay. Regardless of whether you use the beach or not, your property value is tied to the water bordering our community.
The Peconic Bay Keeper has asked for our support, I hope you will consider helping with a small donation.
THE KATHY CAMPAIGN
It has been almost four months since the double-whammy of Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’easter hit our shores…and their boat, the Kathy.
This boat is a mobile science station from which we test water quality, sample sediment and monitor marine life. The Kathy is currently undergoing a serious restoration effort…and she needs YOUR support!
A large part of the work at Peconic Baykeeper involves patrolling the water, continually identifying and responding to pollution events and shoreline changes. The Kathy is critical in Peconic Baykeeper’s ability to engage the community and restore our local waters. Without her, they are unable to fully satisfy the demands of our mission, bringing clean water back to Long Island.
