Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece readers….On Friday night March 3rd, Kurt drove up to Westchester to have father & daughter time with Dani and took her to dinner and of course did some shopping. Allura our youngest got whiff of this information and was upset because the previous week her father & daughter time was spent going on a nature walk through the Wild life and for her that was boring time. I said hey, there is a new restaurant in town, lets go out to dinner and have our own Mommy & daughter time. For those of you who don’t know my 12 year old she is a Foodie and food is her first love above all others, when she was 2 she never played in her food like most kids do..She immediately got ready and off we went. Muse Restaurant formally home to Water Mill has moved it’s one and only location to Sag Harbor and we in the Harbor are very happy to welcome them.
They are occupying the space that was the formal home to restaurants like “Peter Miller’s”, JLX, Pomme Cafe. The inside looked beautiful, it was warm and inviting. I asked Allura what she thought and she loved it, as soon as you walk in you cannot help but notice the incredibly humongous Fish Tank. This tank is beautiful and there is nothing more relaxing than watching fish swim around in water, it was the perfect addition to this restaurant, they are still tweaking it, and adding fish..I am told it took 10 people to put it in.

This was their 2nd day opening and unfortunately Allura and I got there after 7pm so we where unable to take advantage of the Prix Fixe menu, but it was all good we were looking forward to a wonderful meal. We got our menu’s and Allura was not really excited about any of the appetizers, since I am really trying to lower my food portions I passed on the appetizers and we went straight to ordering our Main dish. Allura ordered the Wild Salmon and I was drawn to the Short ribs of beef…
As we waited for our food to arrive I asked her if she wanted bread and she said Mom I am in training now and I need to hold back on the bread, so I said ok..then suddenly a waiter comes over and brings us bread and butter, olive oil and sundried tomatoes…What the heck we both say to each other..OH MY GOD…this bread was hot and crisp and to hard to resist…we gave in and it was delicious!!!!
Our food came soon thereafter and I was very pleased with my Short Ribs, they were tender, seasoned very nice and melted in my mouth, I am not sure what the side was but it was enjoyable, it felt like something was missing from the plate, maybe a green vegetable would have completed the meal. Allura had the Salmon and it was delicious, seasoned perfectly with no need to add either salt or pepper, the side however was interesting, it was a 10 bean salad. If you are into beans then you will love this salad and I thought it was a nice addition to the Salmon, but my 12 year old did not care for it and although she loved the Salmon and gobbled it all up, the meal left her unfulfilled and still hungry. I will say I loved the service and that for me was an absolute winner….By the way one of my favorite Hostess is a woman name Katie, I met Katie at the Beachhouse last year and I am pleased to say she is now a member of the Muse family….they are very lucky to have her, she is professional, approachable and very beautiful.
We of course had to have dessert and boy did we…We ordered the “Too Much Chocolate” a hot Chocolate Lava cake with whipped cream and the “Are you ready for Smore” a double dose of Chocolate mousse & gram cracker, french toast topped with torched homemade marshmallow….It was delicious and if a picture is worth a thousand words…then a video should be worth a million…RIGHT? Who loves dessert? KIDS and if they are enjoying it then just maybe it is worth a taste….check out Allura enjoying her dessert.. We had a great bonding time, great conversation and she even let me in on what’s happening in the life of a soon-to-be-teenager…doesn’t get better than that…
So there you have it friends our Muse experience…Overall we would have loved to see more choices on the menu, maybe add a couple more seafood dishes…maybe add a Carmel ice-cream to the Chocolate Cake dessert…it was missing that element….We give this restaurant a 7 out of 10…..We look forward to going back for Lunch that will start in May. I predict the bar scene will be happening this summer and there’s nothing better than great bartenders, the bar is cool and I love the lounge area….I really like the staff at Muse and you have won my business, it will be a place that I will continue to support. I sincerely hope the service does not change. I wish them success and as long as the service is good, the food is good and you have a great Bar scene then I am sure they will do well.
Muse is open everyday, M-Th & Fri/Sat 5-7pm during the off-season you can enjoy the Prix Fixe menu for $29.00 per person, includes appetizer, entree and dessert…I leave you with this rumor I hear…The Beachhouse in East Hampton has been sold and before I mention what I have been told who will be taking over that location I need to get verification first….It is a NYC popular place however… As always Hamptons Mouthpiece keeping you in the know.….
*sorry the images are not the best, I took them I guess I should leave the photography to Kurt…
