I am mostly excited about the Hamptons International Film Festival 2012 starting next week and I am sure they will not disappoint with the fantastic line-up of amazing movies that will be showing. This is the 20th year anniversary of the HIFF and they are starting off with a movie that I have heard much about and I am anxious to see, Love, Marilyn a documentary film celebrates the tenacity, sensitivity, and beauty of Marilyn Monroe on the 50th anniversary of her death. There are so many movies this year…but listed below are the ones on my list that I would like to see…for a complete list of the movies and how to purchase click here……

“Excelsior.” Remake yourself. David O. Russell’s SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK follows the bipolar Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) on his unerring quest to re-write his own happy ending. Recently released after a court-ordered stint at a psychiatric facility, Pat attempts to acclimate back into his parents’ (played by Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver) home and win back his estranged wife Nikki. Into his orbit flies Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), an equally volatile young widow with an offer to help Pat get Nikki back… with a price. SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is bound to be one of the most talked about films of the year: effortlessly dysfunctional, thrillingly acted, and thoroughly rewarding.
Family Film: Frankenweenie directed by Tim Burton…Budding young scientist Victor Frankenstein loses his beloved dog Sparky in an accident. Soon after, Victor’s science teacher, Mr. Rzykruski (Martin Landau) conducts a class experiment showing the effects of electricity on a dead frog. In a flash of inspiration, Victor vows to bring Sparky back to life––with unexpected, monstrous consequences. Heartwarming and hilarious, this 3D stop-motion animated feature is a ghoulish good time for the whole family.
DETAILS: directed by Jacob Aaron Estes…..all star cast: Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, Ray Liotta, Kerry Washington, Dennis Haysbert ….Playing against type, Toby Maguire delights as the morally ambiguous Dr. Jeff Lang in this dark comedy with no shortage of laughs and gasps. When he attempts to rid his suburban Seattle backyard of raccoons, quickly earning the ire of his eccentric neighbor (Laura Linney), Jeff sets off a chain of events that leads to domestic rifts, adultery, blackmail, and murder. As his marriage to Nealy (Elizabeth Banks) and his life teeter dangerously on the brink of destruction, he seeks redemption by helping a friend in need, but it may be too late to stop the dominos in Jacob Aaron Estes’ offbeat dramedy.
Seven Psychopaths…directed by Martin McDonaghstarring: Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Tom Waits, Woody Harrelson SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS subverts the traditional psychopath genre by infusing it with humor, self-awareness, and pitch-perfect performances, while still maintaining an absurd body count.
59 MIDDLE LANE…Program Notes: When are you ready to find out who you really are? At the age of 10, adopted Russian children Grego and Alexa Ammon are rocked by the murder of their father Ted in the Hamptons by their stepfather Danny Pelosi. Soon afterwards, their mother Generosa died of cancer. Now twenty years old, they decide to unearth their roots in the Ukraine. Orphans made orphans again, seeking their identities because even reality doesn’t seem real, 59 MIDDLE LANE is a deeply felt documentary that charts the human need to connect and the mysterious journey it takes to move from tragedy to joy.
I am looking forward to the parties, seeing some of the documentaries and on Monday, October 8th I will be interviewing 2 amazing women: Director Cynthia Wade and Salon owners Rachel DeMolfetto & Cynthia Sansone on behalf of their HBO documentary film MONDAY’S AT RACINE. The doc tells the powerful story about Rachel and Cynthia’s beauty salon that opens every Monday to pamper chemotherapy patients free of charge and makes them feel beautiful.

The outside was like a secret little garden beautifully manicured and so casually fit for a dinner out with the family. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and quite attentive, but not smothering and that was appreciated. We started with two of the house special appetizers…
I had the lump crab on Parmesan toast..drizzled with tarragon white wine butter sauce and Cindy had the chilled Melon soup….I loved the Lump Crab…it was so delectable, I can taste it in my mouth as I am writing at this moment. I personally did not care for the Melon soup but that is because I like hot soup and not chilled soup, but Cindy liked it.
I look forward to seeing what new and exciting things Rose will bring to the restaurant after the summer. I trust that this will be one of the happening spots in the off season because Rose was so exuberant and her passion is so infectious.
We had a very nice evening, the food was delicious the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was comfortable. The price range is moderately expensive. I look forward to returning in the Fall, maybe on a Mah-jongg night. I have never played the game and I would like to experience this new trend.
