Hamptons Happenings…I am so excited for the Chef’s and Champagne in the Hamptons 2013. The James Beard Foundation’s Chefs & Champagne® New York…..Honoring Andrew Zimmern..Last year Food Network’s “Chopped” were the 2012 honorees, I had never watched the show and I was clearly in the minority. After the event I came home and decided to tivo the show and now I am completely a Chopped Junkie….I love this show and have watched every episode.

Once again this year I may have been in the minority because I had never watched or even heard of Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel with Andrew Zimmern. I have watched the show and I like it. I have learned much about other cultures from around the country and yes, the food that Andrew eats on this show is very BIZARRE. I am sure I am NOT brave enough to try new things as Andrew does, like the “trash fish” and black bear he ate. The most Bizarre food that I have ever eaten was “turtle” when I was in Costa Rica, this is apparently a treat…I will admit is was delicious.

I am most excited to attend this years Chef’s & Champagne because it is one of my favorite events in the Hamptons. I am looking forward to stopping by Chef Eric Miller from Madison & Main table, Chef Alex Guarnaschelli from Butter Restaurant and one of the judges from my new favorite show “Chopped” will be there as well so I would love to taste her food and a new restaurant that just opened in Bridgehampton that is receiving rave reviews Chef Todd Jacobs from Fresh, can’t wait to have a sample of his food.

BEACHbikeOne of my favorite hidden secrets in the Hamptons is Amagansett Beach & Bicycle…in Amagansett, NY…I love this business because they offer rentals for Bikes*Kayaks*Surf boards/paddle boards*Boogie boards. They deliver and pick-up and that is VERY COOL. Basically you can have any of these items delivered right to your home and waiting for you when you get to your house. If you are having guest for 1 day or 1 week, you can arrange for a rental and have the bikes or any other item delivered and this way your guest can have a fun-filled week to explore the Hamptons. It’s similar services to you going on vacation yourself and looking on the web for a local bike rental company to collect a bicycle from to use for a day or two. Amagansett Beach & Bicycle is the connoisseur of recreational equipment in the Hamptons with that added touch of delivering. They will also pick-up and deliver if your bike needs repair, they have on staff technicians and therefore they have the added value of experienced staff in-house to help with all of your biking needs. In 2008, Iris combined her passion for design and her efforts to help others by creating Holiday House, the first showhouse in New York City to benefit a breast cancer organization. Each year since, Holiday House has recruited top interior designers from across the country to transform the historic Academy Mansion on the Upper East Side, establishing itself as a premier designer showhouse in Manhattan.

Join us in celebrating life and the holidays in The Hamptons this summer and look for the sixth annual Holiday House NYC in Manhattan in November.
