Enjoy the Hamptons this Fall..The Leaves are turning…Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece Readers...What a fantastic year it has been thus far for events in the Hamptons…many believe that the summer is the best time to visit the Hamptons but I have said before and I will say again Spring and Fall are my favorite times in the Hamptons. I also love the winter when it snows, it is so beautiful and the kids always have a fantastic time going sledding down Pierson hill.
This Fall has been non-stop with multiple events, it started with Harbor Festival in Sag Harbor which pulled in thousands of locals and visitors from all over. It was a HUGE SUCCESS, the weather was beautiful and everyone had a fantastic time, if you missed it this year mark your calendars and schedule your vacations for the mid September 2013. This weekend Southampton will have its turn with the celebration of SeptemberFest in Southampton Village on Saturday and Sunday www.southamptonseptemberfest.com.  If you are looking for something to do with your children head over to SYS Family Fun Day 11a-3pm click here for the schedule of activities for the day,  ..
I am sure many people from all over will be there to enjoy a day of festivities. Sag Harbor is not done however with its continuation of Fall events, this weekend they will be celebrating Sag Harbor Music Festival starting tonight 9/28-9/29 click here for more information, in addition Sag Harbor High School is celebrating Home Coming, FREE Soccer and Field Hockey clinics this Saturday at Mashashimuet Park..Come early to see the Home coming parade….stay for a clinic then stay for the 7pm Field Hockey game as the entire park will be lite up…Should be a fantastic day. On Sunday, in need of shedding those extra pounds you put on from all the food you consumed on Saturday…there will be a Zumbathon on Sunday…see more information on these events in a previous blog written…click here.

LoveMarilyn_450x250I am mostly excited about the Hamptons International Film Festival  2012 starting next week and I am sure they will not disappoint with the fantastic line-up of amazing movies that will be showing. This is the 20th year anniversary of the HIFF and they are starting off with a movie that I have heard much about and I am anxious to see, Love, Marilyn a documentary film  celebrates the tenacity, sensitivity, and beauty of Marilyn Monroe on the 50th anniversary of her death. There are so many movies this year…but listed below are the ones on my list that I would like to see…for a complete list of the movies and how to purchase click here……

SilverLiningsPlaybook
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK Cast: Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Anupam Kher, Chris Tucker, Julia Stiles, John Ortiz

Program Notes

“Excelsior.” Remake yourself. David O. Russell’s SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK follows the bipolar Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) on his unerring quest to re-write his own happy ending. Recently released after a court-ordered stint at a psychiatric facility, Pat attempts to acclimate back into his parents’ (played by Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver) home and win back his estranged wife Nikki. Into his orbit flies Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), an equally volatile young widow with an offer to help Pat get Nikki back… with a price. SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is bound to be one of the most talked about films of the year: effortlessly dysfunctional, thrillingly acted, and thoroughly rewarding.

FrankenweenieFamily Film: Frankenweenie directed by Tim Burton…Budding young scientist Victor Frankenstein loses his beloved dog Sparky in an accident. Soon after, Victor’s science teacher, Mr. Rzykruski (Martin Landau) conducts a class experiment showing the effects of electricity on a dead frog. In a flash of inspiration, Victor vows to bring Sparky back to life––with unexpected, monstrous consequences. Heartwarming and hilarious, this 3D stop-motion animated feature is a ghoulish good time for the whole family.

Argo_450x250ARGO: Directed by: Ben Affleck
Cast: Ben Affleck, John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Kyle Chandler, Barry Livingston, Tate Donovan, Alan Arkin, Victor Garber, Scoot McNairy
Program Notes
In the breathtaking political thriller ARGO, Ben Affleck plays Tony Mendez, a CIA agent and “exfiltration expert” who devised a daring, unconventional plan to rescue six Americans hiding in the Canadian embassy in Tehran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Perfectly capturing the look, style, and tone of the period, Affleck’s third feature as a director also stars John Goodman, Alan Arkin, and Bryan Cranston in colorful, sharp performances. Based on the true account of the real-life Mendez and produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, ARGO is an awards-ready, exhilarating rush that’s not to be missed.

Cloud Atlas…directed by Tom Tykwer, Lana Wachowski and Andy WachowskiCloudAtlas
I am really looking forward to seeing this movie because some of my favorite actors Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, Hugh Grant are starring epic Drama…At little bit of everything Action, mystery and romance. I cannot wait to see this film..

Details-The_450x250DETAILS: directed by Jacob Aaron Estes…..all star cast: Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, Ray Liotta, Kerry Washington, Dennis Haysbert ….Playing against type, Toby Maguire delights as the morally ambiguous Dr. Jeff Lang in this dark comedy with no shortage of laughs and gasps. When he attempts to rid his suburban Seattle backyard of raccoons, quickly earning the ire of his eccentric neighbor (Laura Linney), Jeff sets off a chain of events that leads to domestic rifts, adultery, blackmail, and murder. As his marriage to Nealy (Elizabeth Banks) and his life teeter dangerously on the brink of destruction, he seeks redemption by helping a friend in need, but it may be too late to stop the dominos in Jacob Aaron Estes’ offbeat dramedy.

SevenPsychopaths_450x250Seven Psychopaths…directed by Martin McDonaghstarring: Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Tom Waits, Woody Harrelson SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS subverts the traditional psychopath genre by infusing it with humor, self-awareness, and pitch-perfect performances, while still maintaining an absurd body count.

SmashedSMASHED: Directed by: James Ponsoldt
STARRING: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Paul, Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Mary Kay Place
This is the 2nd film for this director…This film is about an alcoholic couple…addiction and recovery…
59MiddleLane

59 MIDDLE LANE…Program Notes: When are you ready to find out who you really are? At the age of 10, adopted Russian children Grego and Alexa Ammon are rocked by the murder of their father Ted in the Hamptons by their stepfather Danny Pelosi. Soon afterwards, their mother Generosa died of cancer. Now twenty years old, they decide to unearth their roots in the Ukraine. Orphans made orphans again, seeking their identities because even reality doesn’t seem real, 59 MIDDLE LANE is a deeply felt documentary that charts the human need to connect and the mysterious journey it takes to move from tragedy to joy.

I am looking forward to the parties, seeing some of the documentaries and on Monday, October 8th I will be interviewing 2 amazing women: Director Cynthia Wade and Salon owners Rachel DeMolfetto & Cynthia Sansone on behalf of their HBO documentary film MONDAY’S AT RACINE. The doc tells the powerful story about Rachel and Cynthia’s beauty salon that opens every Monday to pamper chemotherapy patients free of charge and makes them feel beautiful.

Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece Readers…This Saturday July 7th..2012***200 Eastern Long Island Swimmers expected at 3rd Annual “HAMPTONS Swim to Fight Cancer Swim Across America (SAA) will come to Fresh Pond Beach in Amagansett for the 3rd Annual HAMPTONS Swim to Fight Cancer, hosted by the Town of East Hampton and the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad.

Swim Across America conducts Open Water and pool swims from Boston to San Francisco each year to raise funds for cancer research and treatment facilities. Since inception 25 years ago SAA has raised over $50 million.
The HAMPTONS Swim offers East End residents an opportunity to make a personal impact fighting cancer by fundraising and swimming. The Swim offers three distance choices, a 3 mile, 1 mile, or 1⁄2 mile swim. The East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad brings over 35 lifeguards to the event on jet skis, surfboards, and stand up paddleboards. From 7- 10am on Saturday, July 7th, there will be no safer place to swim on Long Island.

The primary beneficiary for the HAMPTONS Swim is FIGHTING CHANCE (FC), a not-for- profit organization based in Sag Harbor. FC provides professional counseling and many other cancer related resources to east end patients and their families FREE of charge. In addition, the Swim will fund cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Cold Spring Harbor Lab, the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and the Feinstein Institute of the North Shore LIJ Medical Center.

Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece Readers..today is Father’s Day and I wanted to wish all father’s a blessed Day. Special shout out to my husband Kurt who is an amazing father to our 2 children Danielle & Allura. They are blessed to have you in their lives, words cannot express what I feel for you knowing that you love our girls equally or maybe more than my love for them. I love this quote;” It is a wise father that knows his child” William Shakespeare…that is you, you know your children because you have raised them, you listen to them and you discipline without worry that they will not love you. Special shout out to my best friends father…He is the shinning light in her eyes…he is her protector, he is her biggest fan he is her dad…Happy Father’s day Papa Edwards….My third shout out goes to my brother Kaza. I just admire this man and the kind of father he is, continue the journey baby brother you have been doing a wonderful job thus far. My forth shout goes to all of my daughter’s friends dad’s…thank you for being a constant in both Dani and Allura’s life…you all know who you are and I want you to know that we appreciate the kindness and guidance you have shown our daughters.

My final shout out goes to many of my friends that are dads, seeing you with your sons and daughters is a pleasure to watch. As parents we do not always get it right but we keep on trying until we do. Special shout out to Raphael G, John C, Jesse J, Jeff W,….you are incredible dads…enjoy your day…Happy father’s Day to my dad, we have not always seen things eye-to-eye but I am happy with the journey that we are traveling…

Today is a beautiful day in the Hamptons to just hang out with dad…For us we have been driving all week long and Kurt travels to NYC everyday for work so this will just be a cool out day at home. It is very complicated buying for a man who NEVER gives anyone an opportunity to buy him a gift…know anyone like that…We however managed to get him something he does not have, a summer robe, so that he can stop wearing his winter robe in 100 degree weather and more cologne because we love for him to smell good.
