THE KATHY CAMPAIGN
It has been almost four months since the double-whammy of Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’easter hit our shores…and their boat, the Kathy.
This boat is a mobile science station from which we test water quality, sample sediment and monitor marine life. The Kathy is currently undergoing a serious restoration effort…and she needs YOUR support!
A large part of the work at Peconic Baykeeper involves patrolling the water, continually identifying and responding to pollution events and shoreline changes. The Kathy is critical in Peconic Baykeeper’s ability to engage the community and restore our local waters. Without her, they are unable to fully satisfy the demands of our mission, bringing clean water back to Long Island.

Greetings Hamptons MouthPiece Readers...Can you believe that January is over and it is February 2013…it often amazes me on how quickly the days go by. I love February, I guess it’s because I have always loved Valentine’s Day, I love to see couples in love, Red is my favorite color, February is National Heart awareness month, local businesses are busy like flower shops and Restaurants for Valentine’s Day and its Black History Month. Many people continue to think there is nothing to do in the Hamptons in the Winter, but that is not the case. There are many things happening during the month of February…great time to spend a romantic weekend in the Hamptons, nothing better than snuggling on a cold winter day under a heavy blanket nice and cozy, next to the one you love. Whose ready to get your freeze on for the Frosty Plunge? I have attended this event for the last 2 years and I look forward to it every year. It will be brisk but with all the activities it won’t feel so cold. This year’s featuring events: The First Frost Ball – a playful kick-off party at Muse in the Harbor Family Fun Day – Ice Carving, Fire Dancers, Fireworks, Treasure Hunt and more.
