Hamptons Happenings “PAUL” formation on Mimosa Monday SAG HARBOR COMMUNITY: On Labor Day Monday, 9/7/15, family and friends ofPaul Hansen gathered at Sagg Main Beach in Sagaponack to remember him and honor him with formations made up of people.
Paul Hansen, who was killed in a car accident near his home on Rolling Hills Court East in Noyac early Sunday morning. Mr. Hansen, a 53-year-old real estate salesman and father of two boys, was the passenger in a 2013 Porsche convertible that crashed into a utility pole at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 30th in Sag Harbor.
Paul’s family spoke so fondly about his favorite role of being a father. He enjoyed kiteboarding at Long Beach, taking his sons snowboarding in Vermont, lounging and surfing at Sagg Main beach, being a Cub Scout leader, golfing, fishing and spending time with his friends and large family.
Paul was an outdoor man who loved the water and so it was only fitting have a celebration at the beach on Labor Day. In an effort to HELP kickstart a fundraiser for Paul Hansen’s sons Hunter and Austin, his family organized a Re-create “Euro-Oval”/Carsticker decal (image below) by “people-forming” Mimosa Monday Partiers into letters and oval ring on beach. Filmed start to finish by drone equipped w/ GoPro Camera & Tommy Hansen airplane “fly-by”.
Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund for the Benefit of Hunter and Austin Hansen, payable to Hunter and Austin Hansen, Bridgehampton National Bank, Box 70, Sag Harbor, NY 11963, attention, Tara Fordham. I will post the kick-starter program when it completed.
Please continue keep this family in prayer.

Roberts in Water Mill closes its doors after 25 years
Water Mill, NY: I am sad to announce that Robert’s Restaurant in Water Mill, NY a historic farmhouse and setting for rustic Italian cooking with local produce & seafood has closed their doors after 25 years. Owner-Chef Robert Durkin wrote in a Facebook Post on August 3rd. I was told 3 weeks ago that NYS Depart of Tax had shut them down, but I was hoping that they would recover.
Durkin’s Facebook Post…..
“Dear Friends:Effective August 3, 2015, ROBERT’s has been closed after a long contentious and profoundly illegal action by the State of NY Sales Tax Authority . It is with much sadness that I share this news. I will in the future publicly share the sordid details of the immoral pogrom on the part of a bankrupt state, but that is the work of another day. Today I am feeling great sorrow and loss both for myself and the many people who contributed to making ROBERT’s the loving , living and thriving experience it was. I thank you all here for that. I go forward strengthened only by the moral certitude of my integrity , which regardless of the outrageous slanderous accusations of a state bereft intelligence or morals, remains very much in tact. And once again thank you for your many years of support.
Sincerely,
Robert Durkin
Chef , Owner ROBERT’s”
Women’s Health Hamptons Gala kicks off Run 10 Feed 10….Party under the Stars Gala to Benefit FEED FOUNDATION
As Many of you know the 2015 theme of Hamptons Mouthpiece is Journey to fitness...so when I was invited to attend Women’s Health Magazine annual Hamptons event I was excited to attend. Unfortunately I was unable to partake in the earlier activities in Montauk on Saturday, August 1st, but I was able to attend the evening event Party under the Stars in Bridgehampton a benefit for a wonderful organization FEED Foundation. The FEED Foundation is the non-profit arm of FEED that supports programs and organizations that are effectively working to fight hunger and eliminate malnutrition. It has since grown to encompass hunger relief efforts both stateside and abroad, as well as provide aid during natural disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide. As of January 2015, FEED has provided over 87 million meals globally. www.run10feed10.com
THE DAYTIME WELLNESS EVENT: Took place at the “Well-thy House” with Women’s Health and Domino Magazine–a co-branded event hosted at Women’s Health VP/Publisher Laura Frerer-Schmidt’s newly constructed Montauk home. The event featured top experts leading home and garden workshops, workouts, cooking demos, and nutrition consultations. So if you want to take part in a healthier new you, why not look at some exercise gear like workout leggings, you’ll be primed and ready to get fit. The lunch at the event was in support of Women’s Health’s partner, the FEED Foundation and the charity event series RUN10 FEED10.
Joining Women’s Health and Domino at the Well-thy House included:
• Mandy Ingber, celebrity yoga instructor: Yoga class
• Heidi Powell, celebrity trainer and star of ABC’s Extreme Weightloss: Workout

The annual “Party Under the Stars” event was held at the Bridgehampton Surf & Tennis club in the evening. Always a fun event, good energy, great drinks, beautiful location, great weather, amazing appetizers and fantastic music.
The star-studded event featured music by guest DJ Taryn Manning from the Netflix Series “Orange is the New Black” a live reggae band that was terrific a silent auction to benefit the FEED foundation, beach bonfire and cocktails & Hors d’Oeuvres by Robbins Wolffe.
I spotted Rosario Dawson, Taryn Manning and Laura Prep from Orange is the New Black, Anne Burrell from Worst Cook in America, Ginger Zee from GMA, TV personality Andi Dorfman, Adrienne Bailon, Molly Sims,Tashiana Washington & Eric West.
Many people from NYC came out to the Hamptons for the day with transportation provided by Hampton Jitney courtesy of Women’s Health Magazine. This is one of my favorite Hamptons events because it is a mixture of real women, not your typical Hamptons event.

I had an opportunity to speak with the builder Christopher Tofu of Christopher Tofu Design & Build about the design and layout of the home. This is Christopher’s first time working with the Hamptons Showhouse. His wife Hedy who is a Real Estate Broker with Sotheby’s International found out they were seeking candidates, so they submitted the house over the winter and the organizers decided this was the house and that is how it got started. What a beautiful selection, the more I look at the house the more I like it. There are 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, the doors in each of the rooms are custom made and not your standard 1 3/8 door. You will notice that half of the house is vertical and the other half is horizontal…Christopher indicates that they wanted to break up the line and give it more of a Modern Style, stand out from all of the other Hamptons luxury homes, they wanted to be different. You can hear more of my conversation with Christopher in the video above.
I then went to speak to Keith Baltimore the designer of the Master Bath, another one of my favorite rooms in this gorgeous home. It was a bathroom fit for a Hamptons Home, Keith said a bathroom fit for a Prince and Princess. I loved the shag carpet by Stanton Carpet, the stunning frameless shower doors who’s engineering I still can’t quite get my head around, the oversized Vanity Table that was the centerpiece in the room and the chandelier that was breath-taking. Keith’s room was 100% his personality, fun, engaging, stylish, approachable and comfortable. Keith suggested we should do the interview in the tub, but I was being a stick in the mud, next time Keith drinking Champagne of course….
I also had time to speak to Elissa Grayer whose room was Sponsored by Stanton Carpet. Elissa was responsible for the Foyer area, and the staircase to the upstairs..the grand entrance of the house. I loved it, it was warm and inviting, looked like a real family lived here. I think I’ve seen some familiar pieces of furniture in The Khazana furniture store so they must be on trend. I had an opportunity to sit and talk with Elissa about new trends in flooring and tips for homeowners seeking to add carpeting to their staircase. Elissa stated she uses Stanton Carpet all of the time for her clients because she loves the mix and match prints, and how they bring a room to life. I love the area Stanton Rug she selected it really stood out in this room. You can hear more of my conversation with Elissa in the video above.
This Modern built Barn House is 6500 sq, ft, 7 bedroom, 8 bathroom house, on 3.4 acres complete with finished lower level, playroom, large exercise room, movie theatre, tennis court & swimming pool. The house is also equipped with exterior lighting, similar to what Lighscapes South Ontario offers, making the outdoor space usable at nighttime, making a great excuse for skinny dipping. The exterior lighting also highlights the beauty of the house and its gardens in the evening time when the sun goes down. Many homes this size feels cold and somewhat un-inviting, but this house felt very warm and comfortable. Overall my favorite designed rooms were the Foyer Area, the Dinning room, the Living Room, the Kitchen, the Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom and the back deck area, I love Frontgate and I am told they were a Sponsor for most of the outdoor furniture used. The living room is certainly one of the best rooms in the house as it provides such a calm and relaxing atmosphere but also provides a space where people can come together. They have some of the best accent chairs for living room spaces and the whole room is tied together so nicely. I would certainly replicate this look in my own home if I had the space!
