Hamptons Mouthpiece: Perfect Guacamole 🥑
Real talk. Real people. Real avocados. One day I walked into a store to buy guacamole and nearly needed a small loan. I stared at the price, stared at the avocados, and said to myself, “How hard could this be?”
It turns out, it not hard.
Also turns out: a little time-consuming, but absolutely worth it.
I started making my own; and now I’m sharing my recipe with you for one very important reason.
If I come to your house and you serve me guacamole, I already know I’m going to like it, because it’s mine. 😂 Yes, it’s all about me. I admit it.
Perfect Guacamole
Recipe Type: Appetizer / Snack
Cuisine: Mexican-inspired
Author: Vanessa Leggard
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes (mostly emotional prep)
Total Time: 25 minutes
Serves: 4–6 people (or 2 very determined ones)
Fresh ingredients. No fillers. No weird aftertaste.
Perfect with chips, tacos, or straight out of the bowl while standing at the counter.
Ingredients
-
3 ripe avocados
-
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
-
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
-
1/4 cup diced red onion
-
2 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced
-
1 teaspoon sea salt
-
1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (adjust if you’re spice-curious or spice-fearful)
-
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a large bowl.
-
Smash until smooth but not sad. A little texture is good for the soul.
-
Add lime juice, cilantro, jalapeño, red onion, tomatoes, sea salt, and black pepper.
-
Toss gently until everything is well combined.
-
Taste. Adjust. Taste again. This step is critical.
Serve immediately with chips, on tacos, or guard it fiercely from everyone in the room.
Final note:
If you bring store-bought guacamole to my house, I’ll still be polite.
But now you know better. 😉
