Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers…last week I visited the Seasons of Southampton located on Prospect Street in Southampton, NY for their Thursday evening ClamBake. If you are looking for A nice Lobster dinner that won’t break the bank, then consider The clambake is on Thursday’s only and you have a choice of selecting the following:

  • Buffet clambake for $34.95 which includes all you can eat + lobster and raw bar
  • Raw bar only
  • Lobster*baked potato*corn on the cob $20DSC_2296

I decided to try everything so that I could share my experience with all of you. I started with the raw bar that included clams*shrimp*oysters.DSC_2273 2

The Clambake consisted of Baked Chicken, Grilled Vegetables, sausage & peppers, corn on the cob, potato wedges DSC_2280 2

Grilled Vegetables….DSC_2275

For me, I enjoyed the Lobster Meal for $20, the lobster was very tasty, it was not over-cooked and it was NOT cold…DSC_2298

The chef prepared them as ordered. The corn was sweet from a local farm stand and the potato was perfect. I know you might be saying to yourself how can anyone mess up such a simple meal, but believe me what looks simple is not always so simple to prepare. For $20 this is really the BEST deal in the Hamptons. I especially love the fact that this Clam-bake will continue for the month of September. I was not that in-love with the Clambake, although the food looked really good and I could not wait to take a bite into the chicken and the stuffed fish ,unfortunately it was a bit under-seasoned for my taste. I did enjoy the salads, the Sausage & Peppers were delicious and the Grilled Vegetables were very good. I gravitate to Hotdogs at BBQ’s and I would have preferred the Hotdogs to be grilled than steamed, I was confused that rolls & mustard were not offered.  I found it a bit odd.

The evening ended with a nice arrangement of desserts, fruit salad, pies & cookies….I had the cookies and the fruit salad

Overall, the ambiance was beautiful, our margarita was DELICIOUS…. The Lobster Meal is one of  the best deals in DSC_2294the Hamptons and is very good. I am looking forward to returning before the clam bake ends on Thursday nights. I am not completely sure when the last day is, so I would suggest calling the Seasons of Southampton. They are located at 15 Prospect St  Southampton, NY 11968 (631) 283-3354

Hamptons Happenings

Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers, Where did the summer go? Can you believe Labor Day is here already? So many events are crammed into this weekend for what some believe is the last summer weekend in the Hamptons. Contrary to what some believe the Hamptons does not shut down after Labor Day and hibernate until next year. Many year-round residents look forward to Labor Day, many are moving back into their homes from renting for the summer. The beaches are not as crowded and that is the time that I like to go. Our students in the East End do not return back to school until September 9th and it is a relaxing time for many year-round residents before the hussle of back to school. I absolutely love the Hamptons in the Fall, there are so many wonderful things to do, so when you leave to resume your life after Labor Day, come back  for a long weekend, there are many FUN things to do, like Wine tours in the Northfork, Apple picking, Harbor Festival in Sag Harbor, the Music Festival, SeptemberFest in Southampton, Halloween in the Hamptons, and much much more. The beaches are free to attend and the water is at its best in September. This is also the time that I go out to eat because I think the food and service are just better after a busy summer and I am looking forward to visiting FRESH in Bridgehampton, NY. In the Know……Can a visit to the Dentist be relaxing?

tannersWhen you say dentist to some people they freak out and the anxiety starts to seep in but I think that Dr. Paul Tanners, a very prominent NYC Prosthodontist has found the solution to getting those anti-dentist people into his office. We all need a good dentist, or as they say in Norway, trenger en rimelig tannlegevakt, and Tanners believes he has found the perfect solution for this. Welcome to the Dental Spa, a practice on Madison Avenue and 53rd Street. Dr. Tanners offers both dental and spa services in one convenient Manhattan location. Dr. Tanners, his dental colleagues and staff, similar to who you’d meet in cosmetic dentist San Diego, is dedicated to your dental health, your physical well-being and your emotional comfort.

While some would argue that dental treatments will never be relaxing for them, there is definitely comfort in knowing that someone is there to take care of your gum and tooth issues. For example, when experiencing a sudden toothache or breaking a tooth due to trauma, knowing an emergency dentist like Thomas E. Cooke D.D.S. P.A. will be there to take care of these issues is reassuring.

Patients emerge from their dental appointments totally relaxed and more confident, with bright, healthy smiles. Even in terms of child dentistry, there are ways to make dental appointments for children more relaxing too. His office specializes in Cosmetic Dentistry, Restorative, Reconstructive Implants, Occlusal Disease, Advanced dental Technologies and Spa Services.

One patient on Yelp said this about Dr. Tanners.

At the conclusion of all of this work, I have to say that Doctor Tanner practices his art like a master craftsman, to a very high standard. He is also a nice man with a friendly human touch, sense of humor, easy to talk to and to question. And he is happy to explain treatment details for the curious patient. Finally, he has a highly competent hygienist whom it’s actually a pleasure to visit for routine care.”images-6

Dr. Tanners and his lovely wife, Phebe Berkowitz Tanners, former Executive Stage Director of the Metropolitan Opera, have vacationed in Southampton for the last 15 years and last weekend they celebrated their collective birthdays and wedding anniversary at Delmonico’s, Southampton. Joining them to celebrate the trilogy of events was their son, Jonathan Tanners – co-founder of The Rap Insider, award-winning jam maker and restaurateur, Sarabeth and Bill Levine along with many other friends. A great time was had by all at the newly opened Delmonico’s and all touted the spectacular service and excellent food by executive chef, Billy Oliva.

Who knows, maybe Dr. Tanners will bring his successful Dental Spa to the Hamptons. I’ll ask you, my images-7readers, is this a service that you would consider using? Is it possible that we really do not have to associate pain with going to the dentist? Can dental care at the Dental Spa change the way we think and help us to stop fearing the dentist and subsequently start going for regular checkup’s. Contact Dr. Tanners at the Dental Spa ( www.drpaultanners.com ) when you’re in NYC and tell him, Hamptons Mouthpiece said hello!

Sag Harbor, NY August 2013…Greetings  Hamptons Mouthpiece readers… I recently attended an Art opening in Sag Harbor called The Hamptons Meet Belgium and I thought the work by both artist were beautiful and I knew I needed to share with my readers. My friends this work is amazing and if you are Sag Harbor you should stop by the Monika Olko Gallery  to see the work of both these Belgian artist.

The Hamptons Meet Belgium, the Monika Olko Gallery and Belgium based Vodelsang Gallery team up together to present Marcel Ceuppens and Joel Moens in a Hamptons show.

Marcel Ceuppens originally from Belgium but now lives and works in Brussels and London. Marcel studied advertising at the Saint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art & Design, had a successful career as an Art Director some of the most creative advertising agencies in Europe. In 2010 he began creating conceptual digital paintings. “The Everyman Digital Paintings” explores themes of disconnection, complacency and detachment as a universal aspect of a day-to-day existence.

Joel Moens: also from Belgium, is an artist deeply implicated in digital art. He started as a painter but began using computers in 2011 to convey a vision of our highly technological world. His photo-masaic composed of 5000-10,000 different and unique pictures merge to achieve a “uniform” and perfectly aesthetic whole-homage to femininity.  Moens says “his work represents the contemporary world and is an emphasis on the overwhelming importance of the internet”. I chose these two artist to highlight because I love the creative new digital art. What is so fascinating to me is the time spent searching for 5-10,000 unique images, and organizing them in a fashion to create beautiful images. When you view this works from afar they look like simply beautiful pictures but as you step up and view it close you will see the absolute beauty in his work. A definite MUST SEE!
