Hamptons Happenings: JAZZ FOR JENNINGS BENEFIT HONORS THE LATE PETER JENNINGS AND RENEWS HIS LONGSTANDING COMMITMENT TO THE BRIDGEHAMPTON CHILD CARE & RECREATIONAL CENTER
AN EXTRAORDINARY GATHERING OF THE WORLD’S FINEST JAZZ MUSICIANS TO BE HELD AT THE WATERMILL CENTER ON SUNDAY, JUNE 28
“Jazz@Jennings,” the summer Jazz benefit held annually for eight years by the late ABC News anchor Peter Jennings and wife Kayce Freed Jennings, returns this summer as “Jazz for Jennings,” a jazz brunch to honor his memory and his unwavering support of the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center. On Sunday, June 28, twelve of the world’s greatest jazz musicians, including Christian McBride, Jon Faddis, Eric Reed and Delfeayo Marsalis, will perform under a tent during a memorable afternoon at the beautiful and historic Watermill Center.
“Peter was dedicated to helping The Center because he appreciated what critical services it delivered to the families in the often over-looked local African-American and Latino communities. We started Jazz@Jennings at our home in 1996 in order to raise awareness and funding for The Center’s essential educational and recreational programs. But when J@J ended with Peter’s death 10 years ago, The Center lost not only a champion but a major source of support. It needs – and deserves – our attention again,” said Kayce Freed Jennings.
“Peter always said that jazz musicians are the most generous human beings on earth,” recalled Jennings “We’re humbled that many of the same world-class artists who donated their time and talent all those years ago are coming once again to play for Peter’s memory and for The Center. The setting will be spectacular, the food delicious, and the music glorious.”
“Jazz for Jennings” is hosted by Kayce Freed Jennings with honorary co-chairs Tom Brokaw, Charlie Gibson, Ted Koppel, Dan Rather and Diane Sawyer. The event will be held from 12:30p-4p on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the Watermill Center located at 39 Water Mill Towd Road in Watermill, New York.

About the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center
Born out of tragedy in 1949 after a migrant camp fire killed two children of seasonal workers, The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center continues to serve the predominantly African-American and growing Latino population of the Bridgehampton area. For many working parents, The Center is a lifeline. Their children flourish in our many programs and play safely on the farm and fields donated to create The Center in the 50s.
