I LOVE SWEETS…..Hamptons Mouthpiece was out and about this weekend tasting desserts,  its a hard job but somebody has got to do it! I love dessert unfortunately they don’t really love me…but who cares, GYM here I come….The Hamptons are full of amazing restaurants and I wanted to share with you some of my top choice desserts…

Fried Oreo’s with Chocolate Dipping Sauce: LT Burger in Sag Harbor.  This dessert is unbelievable delicious. I really felt like I was in Heaven. Not knowing what to expect I was anxious and after taking that 1st bite I was in love.. they were hot and crispy fried. Wow, so goooooooood

Death by ChocolateB’Smith’s Restaurant, Sag Harbor, NY….This dessert is so good if you are a chocolate lover like I am…It is served cold and the chocolate just melts in your mouth. It is sprinkled with chocolate dipping sauce and fresh strawberries….This is a definite must have…B’Smiths is the perfect spot to hang out with friends on a warm summer night in Sag Harbor.photo(20)

Tempura Banana Split: Beachhouse Restaurant, East Hampton, NY….Wow, I have never had a banana split like this. It included Vanilla & Chocolate Gelato, Tempura Fried Banana, crunchy caramel & whipped cream. I really cannot believe how delicious the fried banana tempura was, It was very light and not overwhelming sweet, melted in your mouth…If you are visiting Beachhouse this summer for lunch or Dinner don’t skip the dessert especially this one.
Burbon Street Bread Pudding: B’Smith’s Restaurant, Sag Harbor…..This nice & light bread pudding is B’Smith’s signature dessert….I wasn’t sure what to expect since I really do not like bread pudding, but I loved this and the strawberries and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream was a nice touch to this scrumptious dessert.

Warm Almond Cake: Harbor Bistro, East Hampton….Just looking at this delicacy makes my mouth water…How beautiful is this….Well Friends as beautiful as it looks it taste even better. Bravo Harbor Bistro this dessert was amazing, thank you for allowing me to taste it. This Almond cake is accompanied by Strawberry-Rhubarb compote, Vanilla bean Ice Cream and toasted Almonds…. Simply delightful

Profiteroles Patea Choux Puffs with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Harbor Bistro, East Hampton……..If a pictures was worth a million dollars….then this dessert would definitely be a winner…Look at the chocolate just oozing down this puff with sprinkled white sugar powder on top…..Harbor Bistro has done it again….not only are they crafted at making food look good it really does taste incredible….I really love this restaurant, if you choose to share dessert you will end up asking for another dish because it is just that delectable.

Not to be forgotten…..CUPCAKES...  .Cavaniola’s Sag Harbor, I am not really a cupcake fan but I recently had the pleasure of tasting these yummy cupcakes, they are hands down the best cupcakes I  have ever tasted..you will not be disappointed. While you are there try the homemade potato chips, they are insane..

Head out East to Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk – Colin is pouring Electric Eels with U’LUVKA vodka this weekend at this new hotel/watering hole/”kitchen”/disco from Surf Lodge impresarios Ben Pundole and Robert McKinley. It just opened on Friday, but Ruschmeyer’s (located at 161 Second House Road, just down the way from Solé East) is quite the late-night spot.

Upcoming blog….summer camps for all budgets

I am sorry for the late Post:
Wow! Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons was the ABSOLUTE BEST! We could not ask for better weather. I had a great time and for the first time in 5 years I did not attend any of the bigger affairs but I did attend some really fun events this weekend. To my knowledge there were 3 publication parties. Plum Tv had their Magazine launch party on Thursday at the new Beach House Restaurant in East Hampton, Social Life Magazine had their launch party at the Southampton Social Club, Hamptons Magazine @ Southampton Social Club on Sunday. I went to 2 out of the 3. I had a wonderful time at both Plum’s event and Hamptons Magazine event.
I am told that Kites for a Cure was an exciting event and it definitely had some beautiful weather, the beaches were packed and some brave individuals were even in the icy cold water. There were many art gallery openings, I had the pleasure of visiting Vered Gallery for the opening of Raul Higuera – Couture Shock.
Vered Gallery Memorial Day Opening
His work was beautiful, plenty of people were there and definitely no repeats of 2 years ago at Vered. Wine, cheese, DJ, beautiful people and beautiful Art.
Plum-Tv had their event the new hot spot in the Hamptons…The Beach House…It was full of fun people, good food and great drinks…Unfortunately this writer did not indulge because I was driving so drinking and driving are not a good combination.

Then it was off to Bay Burger in Sag Harbor, for Jamming Thursday’s, and I had the pleasure to hear Monica Hughes sing. It was a treat for many there…I was exhausted and it was time to go home…I was really looking forward to Friday because my BFF Pat was visiting on Saturday for a couple of days..On Friday night had dinner with Allura and Kurt at Turtle Crossing in East Hampton, we missed the band that plays from 5-7pm on Friday nights. We got there at 7pm  and had a wait before we got a table, but friends it was so worth it. The cornbread is to die for….and our waitress was so attentive, warm and kind it made the wait just so insignificant.
Definite thumbs up!!!!!
Pat came out on Saturday and we had a great time, stopped by Copa to hear Monica, it was alittle to early. Decided not to go to Southampton where most of the action was taking place, hung out at Beach House for the night and had a great time.

Sunday we attended the Hamptons Magazine annual Memorial Day Party that was held at Southampton Social ClubLaCoste and Bing were the event sponsors…Many guests walked away with either a lacoste hat and flip flops or a watch….Then drove Back to Sag Harbor, went to B’smiths and had appetizers and cocktails, walked over to see Ed from Project Vibe at Phao and walked home since Dani had the car.

Overall the weekend was fantastic and it ended perfect with the annual Sag Harbor Memorial Day Parade where I had the pleasure to see my oldest march in her final parade. It was bittersweet, she has marched in this parade for the last 9 years and this was her final performance. Wow…

PULL OVER ….License and Registration
THE MOST FEARED WORDS IN THE HAMPTONS…Well everyone knows that the nuisances of the Hamptons are the traffic on 27 and the parking on Main Street in the Villages…This year is no better and it is a real bummer to get a ticket…or having to show up in court for a speeding ticket…Let’s face it friends it has been a long winter and the towns look forward to making some income during the summer. I was contemplating is a lawyer worth it for speeding? It really does depend, if you’re bound to rights like me then take your punishment and pay your fine! Also, whatever they say you should do to help with the points on your license, do it! Because there is a possibility that next time your fine could be bigger and could include another charge, so it’s important to pay your fine the first time. However, if you’re adamant that you aren’t guilty of speeding, it might be worth getting in touch with a traffic infractions lawyer who could help fight for your innocence. Sometimes, defense lawyers can lower sentences and fines if their client isn’t guilty, so it might be worth pleading not guilty if you weren’t speeding. However, it’s normally easier to plead guilty if you were caught speeding. Following a speeding conviction, it’s important to avoid repeating that behavior. You can go online and take a driving class from sites such as https://www.myimprov.com/, building on your knowledge and helping you when on the roads. It’s also important to note that bigger vehicles need to take extra precaution on the roads. Drivers of trucks certainly don’t want to be speeding, as not only does that use up more fuel, but it can cause crashes. Fortunately, many business owned vehicles, including trucks, are now using things like fuel management systems from companies like Lytx which identifies those who are speeding or driving somewhat recklessly and therefore getting them the coaching they need. Nevertheless, no matter where you are, drive safely, but take extra precaution in the Hamptons.

Here are a couple of tips for visitors and summer people.

  1. Pay attention to the speed limits, you will get pulled over…NO LIE!
  2. Pay attention to parking signs you will get a ticket, the traffic police is out in full force.
  3. Make sure your registration and inspection are in order, if your registration is not and you get pulled over, you will be arrested and your car will be towed!
  4. Parking in the town of East Hampton on Main street is 1 hour, pay attention to your time…Southampton town is 2 hours
  5. Just because you may see cars parked does not make it legal, pay attention to Parking signs…I believe in the town of Southampton they will tow your car away.

I find it very interesting that the time that you can park in East Hampton has been reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour, so here are some tips for you my friends….Main Street parking is 1 hour, in the back parking lot that is a 2 hour time slot…near the YMCA is a 24 hour time slot and if you need to leave your car overnight, you must get a permit from the town…

The village strictly controls parking in village parking lots and on village streets. It has no jurisdiction over private parking lots owned by commercial businesses. Violation of village parking regulations can result in vehicle immobilization or towing and a mandatory fine of $60. Village regulated parking lots include:
• Reutershan Parking Lot. Located between Herrick Park and the stores on Main Street. Two-hour maximum from 8 am to 6 pm from April 1st until December 31st. You are required to take a free ticket at the entrance to the lot and display it on the driver’s side of your dashboard. Failure to display the entrance ticket may result in a mandatory fine of $60.

I have added some additional links to some of the towns for more information on those towns…
