GreetingsHamptons MouthPiece readers…sorry for the delayed information, this has been an emotional and semi-stressful week. I am pleased to bring you this information in case you were unaware of this special event happening this weekend in the Hamptons. “The Hamptons Black International Film Festival is a four day retreat and international/domestic showcase.  Established because Hollywood has limited platforms and distribution starring people of African descent.  The goal of HBIFF is to educate, inform, and enlighten the community by showcasing films by and for but not limited to people of African descent. HBIFF is dedicated to shorts, feature, and documentaries.  Through a diverse platform, the festival nurtures the growth and development of aspiring artists, and is open to filmmakers, and industry executives.”
This event had its kick off in New York City and will be spending the remaining 3 days in the Hamptons with many of the events taking  place at our beloved Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor. I am listing the schedule of events, I am excited to attend many of the weekend’s events and my daughter Allura is excited to attend Tracey Moore acting class on Saturday.

Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers…Today I was at Sylvester’s & Co. on Main Street in Sag Harbor, I came in because I was able to get Optonline and I needed to get some work done online. I had been hearing great things about their DREAMY coffee and I just had to try it….well friends it is absolutely Dreamy…they blend the beans here themselves, it is all fair traded organic..and the ice coffee is blended cold press.
I am told that Bay-Burger takes some of the beans and makes coffee ice-cream..yum yum! There are many coffee shops in Sag Harbor but you can only find Dreamy Coffee at Slyvester’s in Sag Harbor. Here is a treat for all you coffee lovers mention Hamptons Mouthpiece this weekend 9/16-9/18 at Slyvester’s and you will get a 2 for 1!!!!! Best thing that I love is they have an honor system for the coffee. Stay tuned for my article and schedule for the Hamptons international Black film festival this weekend in Sag Harbor and which Hamptons Restaurants are having an off season pre-fixed menu. Hamptons Mouthpiece if you really want to know whats happening in the Hamptons!

9/15 Contract signed at final hour….Update as of 9/13/11 still no contract….expiration date for cooling off period is 9/14/11 still crossing my fingers….Hamptons MouthPiece…”we do the talking for you” Greetings Friends, are you a member of the United Healthcare Oxford insurance group? If you are, then you may want to continue reading….Our health insurance carrier is Oxford and I received a letter from our carrier informing us that their relationship with EEHA (EAst End Health Alliance) was terminated on July 15, 2011…..I continued reading to find out what does this mean to us. Apparently EEHA and UHO could not come to an agreement and therefore the agreement was ended..According to NYS law there is a 2 month cooling off period which takes us to 9/14…If no agreement has been settled by this time effective September 15, 2011, care for an emergency illness, injury or condition will be treated as in-network care at any hospital. However, you may be transferred to an in-network hospital once your condition stabilizes. If you choose to stay at one of the EEHA facilities which include (Southampton Hospital, Eastern LI Hospital in Riverhead and Peconic Bay Medical Center) you will incur out-of-network cost and if you do not have out-of-network coverage you will be denied treatment. It is important that you speak with your carrier to discuss how this will affect you…I remember a couple of years ago this happened with Oxford and the EEHA and thank goodness it was settled…last year the same issues occurred with Blue Cross/Blueshield and in the final hours it was settled. Lets just hope that we are so lucky, because friends if this agreement is not settled this could be a nightmare for those of us with this healthcare carrier. It could mean having to drive nearly 50 miles if you need x-rays done, or simple procedures, mammograms and etc…

I spoke to my insurance carrier Oxford this morning and as of today there has been no agreement…The east end hospitals are notorious for waiting until the very last minute to renew a contract, they did this last year with Blue Cross Blue Shield and with Oxford in 2008..I am crossing my fingers and hoping and praying for a good outcome….as  always Hamptons Mouthpiece, we do the talking for you…’til next time….have a great week..

Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers…. Today was an absolutely fabulous day in Sag Harbor ..hundreds of people from all over turned out to celebrate Harbor Festival. My day started with having a Pina Colada at B’Smith’s…it was delicious…then I walked around to the dozens of vendors on the long wharf, there were many food vendors, snow cones, live music and many local vendors raising awareness for their organizations….
I then met up with my friends and sat on their boat chilling, talking and just taking in the breeze…the sunset was beautiful tonight and I wanted to share this fabulous image I captured. Thank you Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce for a great day and to the Sag Harbor Police Dept for lifting the parking restrictions for the day.
