Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers…last week I visited the Seasons of Southampton located on Prospect Street in Southampton, NY for their Thursday evening ClamBake. If you are looking for A nice Lobster dinner that won’t break the bank, then consider The clambake is on Thursday’s only and you have a choice of selecting the following:

  • Buffet clambake for $34.95 which includes all you can eat + lobster and raw bar
  • Raw bar only
  • Lobster*baked potato*corn on the cob $20DSC_2296

I decided to try everything so that I could share my experience with all of you. I started with the raw bar that included clams*shrimp*oysters.DSC_2273 2

The Clambake consisted of Baked Chicken, Grilled Vegetables, sausage & peppers, corn on the cob, potato wedges DSC_2280 2

Grilled Vegetables….DSC_2275

For me, I enjoyed the Lobster Meal for $20, the lobster was very tasty, it was not over-cooked and it was NOT cold…DSC_2298

The chef prepared them as ordered. The corn was sweet from a local farm stand and the potato was perfect. I know you might be saying to yourself how can anyone mess up such a simple meal, but believe me what looks simple is not always so simple to prepare. For $20 this is really the BEST deal in the Hamptons. I especially love the fact that this Clam-bake will continue for the month of September. I was not that in-love with the Clambake, although the food looked really good and I could not wait to take a bite into the chicken and the stuffed fish ,unfortunately it was a bit under-seasoned for my taste. I did enjoy the salads, the Sausage & Peppers were delicious and the Grilled Vegetables were very good. I gravitate to Hotdogs at BBQ’s and I would have preferred the Hotdogs to be grilled than steamed, I was confused that rolls & mustard were not offered.  I found it a bit odd.

The evening ended with a nice arrangement of desserts, fruit salad, pies & cookies….I had the cookies and the fruit salad

Overall, the ambiance was beautiful, our margarita was DELICIOUS…. The Lobster Meal is one of  the best deals in DSC_2294the Hamptons and is very good. I am looking forward to returning before the clam bake ends on Thursday nights. I am not completely sure when the last day is, so I would suggest calling the Seasons of Southampton. They are located at 15 Prospect St  Southampton, NY 11968 (631) 283-3354

Hamptons Happenings

Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece readers, Where did the summer go? Can you believe Labor Day is here already? So many events are crammed into this weekend for what some believe is the last summer weekend in the Hamptons. Contrary to what some believe the Hamptons does not shut down after Labor Day and hibernate until next year. Many year-round residents look forward to Labor Day, many are moving back into their homes from renting for the summer. The beaches are not as crowded and that is the time that I like to go. Our students in the East End do not return back to school until September 9th and it is a relaxing time for many year-round residents before the hussle of back to school. I absolutely love the Hamptons in the Fall, there are so many wonderful things to do, so when you leave to resume your life after Labor Day, come back  for a long weekend, there are many FUN things to do, like Wine tours in the Northfork, Apple picking, Harbor Festival in Sag Harbor, the Music Festival, SeptemberFest in Southampton, Halloween in the Hamptons, and much much more. The beaches are free to attend and the water is at its best in September. This is also the time that I go out to eat because I think the food and service are just better after a busy summer and I am looking forward to visiting FRESH in Bridgehampton, NY. Listed below are some things to do this weekend and some really big things happening in the Hamptons during the Fall.

(Southampton, NY) The Southampton Inn a perfect getaway stay.…Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece Readers, the start of the summer in the Hamptons will be here in less than 12 days and the East End will be filled with people from across the globe vacationing in the Hamptons. Memorial Day symbolizes the beginning of the Summer season, lets just hope we will get the warm weather. This is really up to Mother Nature, she seems to be full of humor lately, teasing us with 80 degree weather one day and the next day it’s freezing with a frost advisory.Flower_with_Inn

I had the pleasure to take a tour of the Southampton Inn a month ago and  although I have been there many times I was unaware of all the amenities that the Inn offers its guests. Unlike many of the other hotels in the Hamptons, the Southampton Inn is a premiere travel destination stay that is centrally located in the heart of Southampton village and walking distance to the one of the Hampton’s Voted best beaches in America, Coopers Beach. The Southampton Inn is located in Southampton Village on the East End of Long Island, New York on five acres of manicured lawns and landscaped gardens. ThisTudor-style Inn is open year round, is a local landmark and the choice hotel for thousands of visitors who travel to the South Fork of Long Island and the Hamptons each year. The Inn welcomes guests looking for a Long Island getaway, a long-awaited vacation in the Hamptons, a romantic weekend, a family gathering or corporate retreat. Unique stores and boutiques, museums, art galleries, quaint and upscale dining and endless entertainment. During the summer, the Inn provides complimentary shuttle service to beautiful Cooper’s Beach. The staff  can coordinate restaurant reservations, fishing trips, surfing lessons, golf tee times, bicycle rentals, tours of local museums, and visits to historic sites and wineries..man-and-woman--riding a bike

The Kids Room is equipped with a Television, DVD player, video games, ping pong table and ice cream. What I liked is the kids room is located next to the outdoor patio. If the kids get bored being in the pool and you are not ready to leave the child/children can go into the kids room and hang out there for a while.  The Southampton Inn welcomes pets too so you don’t have to leave your family pet behind?playroom1

Music Under The Stars
Every Wednesday this summer enjoy a free concert at Agawam Park or Coopers Beach, presented by the Southampton Cultural Center. All shows start at 6:30pm-8:30pm.IMG_0033_250
2013 Concert Schedule:
July 3: The Lone Sharks -Coopers Beach
July 10: Hambone Thyme -Agawam Park
July 17: Matt Daniel -Agawam Park
July 24: The Precisions -Agawam Park
July 31: Project Vibe -Coopers Beach
August 7: Jonny Hirsch -Agawam Park
August 14: AdLib Steel Orchestra -Agawam Park
August 21: New Life Crisis -Agawam Park
August 28: Vivian and the Merrymakers -Agawam Park

Although my tour was given on a cold day, the beauty of the property was just as beautiful had it been a warm summer day. The landscaping is exquisite and yet relaxing, the outdoor pool patio is furnished with a 50 foot pool that is 3-4 feet deep, an outdoor bar, tennis courts and a garden of which they grow their own herbs and tomatoes. The Outdoor seating is perfect for a cocktail party that is an option, just call the Inn to get available dates and rates. The banquet room is available for rental year-long and what makes it very special is it has its own private entrance.southampton Inn Pool

Corporate:

  • The Southampton Inn is the perfect place for companies to hold  board meetings, only 40-60 minutes from the Islip airport, can accommodate up to 80 people.
  • Training classrooms for up to 45 people
  • customized packages for corporate retreats (that could include but not limited to vineyard visits, deep-sea fishing, beach parties)
  • WiFi access

Rooms:

The rooms are cozy and warm, feels like home, the beds are Tempur-Pedic mattresses

The Southampton Inn is unlike many Hamptons hotels and Inns, they are open year-round and a staple in the community. During Hurricane Sandy, they opened their doors to misplaced victims and provided them with an opportunity to take showers and have something warm to drink and eat. Many areas in the Hamptons were hit hard by Sandy and many workers were here working 24 hours non-stop, The Southampton Inn provided these workers with a place to stay.Courtyardnight at the Southampton Inn

The Inn offers many services to the Local community as well:

  • Pool & Tennis membership for $2000 for a family of 4.
  • Breakfast & Lunch are served 730am-730pm
  • Lunch can be enjoyed on the lawn
  • meeting rooms
  • Library
  • Banquet Hall
  • Private Parties

lobstersalad @ Oso restaurantOso Restaurant is located within the Inn is open 730am-730pm, serving breakfast & lunch.

One of the amenities that I found interesting is that the Inn allows anyone to “Rent your own Restaurant” perfect if you would like to host an event and bring in your own caterers. Room service is available, you can have it sent to your room or you have a choice to have OSO TOGO and enjoy your meal sitting on the lawn and watching the sunset.

This is a very nice place to stay with a variety of amenities, a perfect arrangement for those not seeking to rent a home. Great for families seeking a weekday stay, weekend get-away or a 1-2 week vacation. Please contact the Hotel for rates and availability www.southamptoninn.com

Expect delays on the LIRR Montauk Branch week of 3/12/13 …Greeting Hamptons Mouthpiece readers…Last week we were informed that County Road 39 would be closed in Southampton in the evenings for 2-3 days March 12-15th 2013 7pm-5am, for road repair. The LIRR released  this information on their website that there would be some changes on the Montauk branch and buses will replace trains from Speonk to Montauk for 72 Hours from Tuesday, March 12 thru Friday, March 15, 2013, for Bridge Rehab Work . The Latest Phase of $22.4M Project of rehabilitation of the three east end Bridges which includes AM & PM Peak Outages.

With train service suspended along this segment of the Montauk Branch, the LIRR will take advantage of the track time to reconstruct the railroad crossing on Montauk Highway near Flying Point Road to accommodate future plans of the Town of Southampton to widen Montauk Highway. As a result, Montauk Highway will be closed to vehicular traffic at that juncture on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13.

Add 40 minutes to your commute in the morning for commuters from Montauk-Speonk if you need to take to bus that will be replacing the trains this week or you can carpool with some of your train buddies and drive to Speonk in the morning to avoid this craziness. Here is your schedule for this week on the Montauk branch.

Southampton, NY: A delightful Lunch at 75 Main..Greetings Hamptons Mouthpiece Readers...The first day of Fall is this weekend and I am so happy because it is absolutely my favorite season. I personally think that Fall has the BEST FASHIONS…the boots, the shoes, the jackets…I just bought a beautiful pair of boots that are not only fashionable but comfortable so I am a winner…This week I had the pleasure to dine at 75 Main Restaurant in Southampton, NY for lunch. My daughter Allura and I went there for lunch on Tuesday because she was out of school for the day. I have been to this restaurant many times but under different ownership and different chefs. I had heard many different reviews from friends and I thought it was time I reviewed for myself and who better to have tag along but my super food critic my 12 year FOODIE….It was a breezy, rainy day and so we decided to sit inside, we were seated in the front by the open windows so we could still experience sitting outside minus getting wet. The place has a nice open feel to it, with a semi-casual touch. You will find the Socialite, the Movie Star or a Family vacationing with their kids playing a card game as they wait for their meals to arrive. I decided that I wanted something light and refreshing for lunch and Allura went all in and ordered a meal fit for a king…Anyone that knows her…understands her healthy appetite, I just do not know where she stores this food.
I ordered the Lobster Salad that included endive, basil, tomato, avocado, lemon and olive oil and Allura ordered the Marinated Skirt Steak that included crispy onion strings, broccoli & Mashed Potatoes…. I really enjoyed my Lobster salad, the Lobster was so good, the endive had a nice bitter taste not overwhelming and a nice crispy crunch to it, the basil and lemon gave it a delightful refreshing taste. It was perfect for a nice summer lunch, a sense of feeling full and not stuffed. Allura really loved the mashed potatoes, they tasted homemade with just the right amount of butter and milk, the crispy onion strings were divine, the skirt steak was satisfying, amazing she could eat such a heavy meal for lunch and still be hungry a couple of hours later. The Broccoli was fresh but the fatal flaw for my daughter was that it was touching the potatoes and although she loves broccoli she would not eat it, presentation is huge especially for a visual child like mine.DSC00810

Of course dining with Allura we can NEVER leave a restaurant without having dessert, she of course is 12 and loves dessert, but who doesn’t! Our waiter recommended the Creme Brûlée and we went with his suggestion and I ordered a cappuccino. WOW….it was so delicious..crispy on the top and cold in the middle, melted in our mouths…We will be back for just that dessert.

The Cappuccino was delightful and possibly one of the best cappuccino’s I have tasted in the Hamptons.DSC00811

Overall we had a nice dining experience, the food was good and our service was very attentive. I am sure we will be back again. This restaurant serves, Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. They are moderately priced.
